A Proposal for
Fundraising For The Revival of 32 Incredible Folk Art Forms Dying In India
India is marked by its rich traditional heritage of Tribal/Folk Arts and Organic Culture. Since the days of the remote past, the diversified art & cultural forms generated by the tribal and rural people of India have continued to evince their creative magnificence.
However, with the passage of time and the advent of globalization, we have witnessed the emergence of a synthetic homogeneous macro-culture. Under the influence of such a voracious all-pervasive macro-culture, the diversified heterogeneous tribal/folk culture of our country is suffering from attrition and erosion.
Many tribal/folk art & organic cultural forms are either losing originality or passing into oblivion. Culture and intangible cultural heritage all have a role to play in alleviating poverty and creating livelihood opportunities. Folk artists have lost traditional skills and wisdom.
Rejuvenation of the art forms will be formulated with the participation of folk trainers and rigorous training on innovation, exchange, and interaction with contemporary art forms with your support.
CHALLENGES
Folk artists are constantly lamenting the lack of opportunities to practice and perform. They did not even think of their art form as a possible means of livelihood. Many had stopped nurturing daily labour and agriculture. There was thus a vicious cycle of poverty and loss of traditional skills and wisdom.
The leading folk artists across all the folk-art forms are continuously sensitized to the prospects of safeguarding their traditional heritage as a means of livelihood. Their active participation and support will be a key factor in achieving the key targets of this project, i.e., rejuvenation of the art forms and improved well-being of the folk artists.
This project will establish a model for empowering communities lacking formal education but rich in intangible cultural heritage. It shall successfully use a livelihood perspective for safeguarding cultural heritage. The project will showcase how performing art traditions can be explicitly treated as resources in the context of achieving sustainable community development.
Replication of this model for other performing and visual art forms across India holds the promise of answering the critical need of augmenting income generation options for rural and tribal people of the country.
Unfortunately, culture is often considered separate from the process of economic development. There is thus a need for dissemination of the success stories and best practices established by this project among various stakeholders in rural non-farm sector development and academic organizations doing research on ……. development theory.
We have a vast untapped scope for developing cultural industries based on traditional intangible cultural heritage. Our folk …. forms can become powerful tools for economic development, poverty reduction and assurance of cultural diversity if cultural industries are mainstreamed into national development plans.
Under such circumstances, we are submitting a project proposal for –
Fundraising For The Revival of 32 Incredible Folk Art Forms Dying In India.
OBJECTIVE
The proposal will be governed by the following logic-driven objectives:
- To explore and analyse the status of various forms of organic and folk art & culture.
- To create appropriately equipped training, rehearsal and performance spaces for artists.
- To showcase more about the world of organic culture and how it can make a big difference.
- To study the intensity of acceptance and popularity of the organic culture, folk arts and folklores.
- To study the existing opportunities facilitating the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of organic and folk art & culture.
- Preservation, Promotion, and Dissemination of all forms of organic and folk art & culture.
- To predict logical and strategic mechanisms for enhancing the skill of the practitioners of traditional art & culture.
- To suggest tenable strategies for enshrining, promoting, and propagating folk art & organic culture.
LONG TERM IMPACT
As an impact, this project will bring the scope of an increased income level for the beneficiaries. It will be helpful to raise their level of independence and will lead them to participate in the decision-making process. Increased awareness will motivate them towards a positive attitude regarding their family affairs, especially for childcare. It will enable them to send their children to school, and they will be illuminated through the light of art and culture.

ORGANIZING TEAM
A training and capacity-building plan will be formulated with the participation of the organic experts, folk gurus as well as leading artists in different fields like singers, musicians, theatre workers, and more. The best team is going to put up around the country for the promotion and patronage of our cultural heritage. Upon completion of construction of the studios and theatres, the best team will be placed to assist in the process of rigorous training that is going to be held regularly to strengthen the basic skills of the artists under the aegis of the Gurus.
SOCIAL IMPACT OF THE PROJECT
As an impact, this training centre will bring the scope of an increased level of income for the beneficiaries. This will be helpful in raising their level of independence and will lead them to participate in the decision-making process. Stable income in the family will definitely improve the overall quality of life of all the family members. Increased awareness will motivate them towards a positive attitude in regard to their family affairs, especially for childcare.
It will allow them to send their children to the school resulting in reduced dropout of children from the school and abolition of child labour in the community. As the project is replicated in other areas, it will have a greater impact on the community. Thus, the project will directly contribute to the total development of society.

JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT
It is clearly evident that tribal/folk art and organic culture are of immense importance in ensuring national integrity, communal harmony, the diversified socio-cultural identity of the various corners of our country and our adherence to the traditional value system of our nation. This project is of immense importance because it makes an attempt to review the current status of Tribal/ Folk Arts and Culture.
The direct interaction with the performers and the reputed institutions involved in promoting the folk arts & organic culture is expected to throw light upon the significant issues, critical problems, and daunting challenges relevant to the professional performances.
